Tolls


‘Via Verde Visitors’ – Temporary Device
The ‘Via Verde Visitors’ is a Temporary Electronic Device designed for use on national soil in vehicles with foreign plates, which facilitates the payment of tolls on the nation’s motorways.

In order to take advantage of the ‘Via Verde Visitors’, all you need is an international credit/debit Card issued by a foreign entity that is valid and recognized by Via Verde Portugal (the Card).

This Device can be rented at any Via Verde store, in certain gas stations of Highway Service Areas and other locations envisaged by Via Verde Portugal (available soon).

The advantages of “Via Verde Visitors”:
• Automatic payment of all tolls, valid wherever found on the national toll road network;
• Available on national soil;
• Quick and easy, minus the hassle of going out your way and any administrative charges;
• Valid for 90 days;
• Avoids having to buy a Permanent Electronic Device;
• Allows for on-line consultation of all transactions;
• On-line access to the invoice / receipt
• Multilingual Customer Helpline available Mon-Fri 8:30am to 8:30pm.

General terms and conditions:
On subscribing to the service, and in order to receive the Temporary Device, the vehicle’s driver should provide a valid Card recognised by Via Verde Portugal, with an expiration date of more than 90 (ninety) days, so that the following amounts as stipulated in the Contract can be charged:
• The guarantee;
• The weekly rental of the equipment;
• The tolls owed during the use of the road network.

The Temporary Device is delivered to the driver of the vehicle upon payment of a deposit, which shall be credited to the bank account of the Card being used, after the Device has been returned in perfect working and physical condition to one of the issuing/recall centres along with proof of payment and membership of the Service.

The rental of the Temporary Device is valid for no more than 90 days, during which time the user shall pay 6 Euros in the first week and 1.5 Euros each following week.

If the Temporary Device is not returned to one of the issuing/recall centres within the above-specified period (see www.viaverde.pt/Visitors), the amount paid of the guarantee shall not be returned and the driver is expressly forbidden to continue using the Device in question, in accordance with Portuguese law.

Notes:
• In addition to the guarantee and ‘Via Verde Visitors’ rental charges, the toll charges incurred during the rental period of the device shall also be debited;
• All toll charges incurred during the use of the road network may be charged as soon as the Temporary Device(s) is/are detected and/or read by the equipment installed on the road network;
• The amount due for the rental of the Temporary Device(s) shall be charged in advance and on a weekly basis, and shall be non-refundable if the Service Membership Contract is terminated before the end of the week in question.

• Vehicle;
• Make;
• Model;
• License Plate.

How to attach the Identifier Device:
• Place the Temporary Device on the inside of the windscreen, behind the rear-view mirror;
• Confirm there are is at least 2 cm of free space around the Temporary Device;
• Peel off the adhesive label found on the Temporary Device and position the device horizontally, with the barcode at the top.

Positioning on athermic glass
In the case of athermic windscreens, position on the tainted glass edge directly below the interior of the car roof.

Usage with motorcycles
Place the temporary device within the pouch provided, making sure to face the barcode upwards and the adhesive label forward. Place the armband of the pouch over your left arm above the elbow, with the pouch facing outwards.

Positioning on Heavy Vehicles
Position the Temporary Device on the left side of the interior of the windscreen.
